Jesus and Jerusalem: History, Faith, and Conflict – Jerusalem in History

At the heart of the Middle East conflict there are contradictory beliefs about the city of Jerusalem - and especially over the area known as the Temple Mount (the site of Judaism’s former Temple, but now also the third holiest site within Islam). Is this still a place where God’s divine presence can be known in a special way?

These three Zoom webinars led by Rev. Dr. Peter Walker - deliberately timed in the weeks leading up to Palm Sunday and Holy Week - are designed to help participants reflect on how Jesus’ historic entrance into Jerusalem can give rise to a distinctively Christian approach to the Temple and Jerusalem. Seeing Jerusalem in this way - through the eyes of the Risen Jesus - can help us to be better able, during this time of tragic tension in the Holy Land, to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Ps 122:6).
