Our next generation brings gifts to the table that uniquely equip them for this task.

•They are the most ethnically diverse generation in history.

•Their world wide connection through the internet has catalyzed a global youth culture, giving them common ground wherever they go.

•They deeply value relationship and cross class, race and generational lines to build relationships.

•They stepped away from the traditional jobs for students and became the generation of the “side hustle”, launching a wide array of business ventures. This ingenuity has equipped them to be co-vocational so they can be launched anywhere in the world.

We have an opportunity, as global mission senders, to pivot and meet the needs of equipping them. This cross-cultural apprenticeship gives the next generation hands-on experience, discipleship, challenging study, and a place to innovate, all while receiving support and mentoring as they explore serving cross-culturally.

To provide a next step in preparing the next generation of cross-cultural workers for effective disciple-making amongst the unreached and marginalized peoples of our world.

• To provide a platform for those just exploring a call to cross-cultural work.

• To provide support through a cohort of peers, coaching from an experienced worker, support from a worker in their field placement, mental health support through a counseling partnership and support from their sending church through a Barnabas Team as they launch out and face new challenges.

• To gain an understanding of God’s mission in the world while serving alongside experienced workers and local leaders.

• To facilitate the next generation in engaging their vocation, wherever and whatever it is, with God’s mission to reach those who do not now him, with a special focus on those places without access to the Gospel.

• To discover their gifts, skills and aptitudes and how they can contribute to God’s global mission.

• To practice a conspicuously spiritual lifestyle so it becomes a pattern of life and to develop a ministry plan for whatever is next for them.

Details

Participating Agencies 2025 Cohort: SAMS, AFM & Global Teams

  • Pre-gathering studies/prep through the summer

  • Meet for in-person training end of summer

  • Launch for 9 month field placement and coaching

  • Retreat in January

  • Return for in person debriefing in early Summer

Each agency is looking for 2 candidates for this first cohort. Candidates will be by referral only for this first year. Pre-field training, prayer and worship will help establish relationships in the cohort. 

Once in the field, they will begin their outlined coursework, (God at work in the World, God at Work in Us, God at Work Through Us) as well as, language study and continued cross-cultural and practical mission studies. They will meet online as a cohort every month, with their coaching group every month and with their partner care giver every month. In addition, the field partner on the ground will provide encouragement, support and guidance. 

The Rest Initiative will provide psychological support through this process. They will do pre-field testing and counseling sessions, mental health support while in the field and will be part of their re-entry process. We will all gather for a group retreat, approximately midway, for encouragement, study, prayer, evaluation and to make any needed changes. 

Following the 9 months in the field they will come together for a 3 day debriefing during which time we will work on a vision plan for whatever is next for them. We will follow up with another time of debriefing online together as a cohort, one month after re-entry.  

We have leadership from AFM, SAMS, Global Teams, SHADE, Five Talents, and New Wineskins involved in the launch of 
Role Call. We are in the midst of adding others to our leadership teams but already have some amazing coaches, instructors, front runner prayer partners and mentors that are a part of this program.
